This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL has reportedly been in California since new and was acquired by the current owner in 2013. A cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was subsequently carried out between 2014 and 2015. The car is powered by a 2.8-liter M130 inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Signal Red over a black MB-Tex interior. Equipment includes a black convertible top, a removable hardtop, 14″ steel wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and air conditioning. This Pagoda is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner in Laguna Niguel, California, with service records, an owner’s manual, a maintenance booklet, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The W113 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger, Béla Barényi, and Paul Bracq and was introduced to the public at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show. This example is finished in Signal Red (568) and features a black convertible top, a body-color removable hardtop, US-specification headlights and a driver-side mirror. The taillight lenses were replaced in 2014, and the bumpers were repaired and re-chromed in 2015. Paint meter readings can be viewed in the gallery.

The 14″ steel wheels wear painted covers and were mounted with 195/75 Hankook Optimo H724 tires in April 2019. The power-assisted four-wheel disc brake system was overhauled in 2014 with replacement calipers, pads, and hoses. The rear brake pads were replaced again in 2024.

The wood trim was restored at that time by Suite E GrafX of Costa Mesa, California. The air conditioning system was overhauled in 2014 and recharged in 2017. A rebuilt Becker Europa AM/FM radio was installed but is not currently connected. Cocomats line the footwells.
