This 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster is one of 823 US-market examples produced for the model year, and it spent a decade in Germany before being imported back to the US following the current owner’s purchase in 2020. Powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a G50 five-speed manual transaxle, the car is finished in Guards Red over black leather upholstery. Equipment includes 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential, a black soft top, a fiberglass twin-hump convertible-top cover panel, R134a-based air conditioning, power-adjustable front seats, and a Bluetooth stereo. This 911 Speedster is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, a clean Carax report, and a California title in the owner’s name.
The car features widened rear bodywork shared with the contemporary 911 Turbo, a fiberglass twin-hump convertible-top rear deck, and a shortened windscreen and side windows when compared to the standard Carrera. This example is finished in Guards Red with a black soft top, and equipment includes integrated fog lights, rear bumperettes, and a single exhaust outlet. Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs wheels have black centers and are mounted with Pirelli P Zero tires that have 2021 date codes. Braking is handled by black Porsche-script calipers over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners.
The power-adjustable seats are upholstered in black leather and are complemented by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Speedster-branded floor mats line the footwell, and equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a short shifter, a rear storage compartment, a Blaupunkt stereo, and air conditioning, the latter of which has been converted to utilize R134a refrigerant. The Speedster was not equipped with rear seats.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation, including a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for oil temperature, oil pressure, oil level, and fuel level. The 260-km/h speedometer was installed in 2013, and its six-digit odometer shows 15k kilometers (~9k miles).
The 3.2-liter flat-six features Bosch fuel injection and was factory rated at 215 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. A European-market catalytic converter will accompany the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a G50 five-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential.
